Master's Program with Thesis
Purpose of the Program: The purpose of the program is to educate graduates who are equipped with a strong infrastructure in political and economic international relations, and to have the ability to think analytically, critically and produce possible solutions to the current issues in international relations.
Importance of the Program: The Department of International Relations offers a dynamic and specialized program that examines the discipline of international relations in parallel with the theoretical and practical developments in the international arena. Courses are given on basic topics in the field like international organizations, international law, foreign policy analysis, and international security, etc. within the scope of the international relations discipline. The Department of International Relations follows a teaching method aimed at examining local and international political processes within economic, sociological, and historical frameworks.
Application Conditions:
• To graduate from one of the undergraduate programs in International Relations, Political Science and International Relations, Global Politics and International Relations, European Union Relations,
• To have at least 55 points from the ALES exam,
• To have at least 70 points from the English Foreign Language Exam YDS.
Courses in the Program: International Relations Theories, Research Methods in Social Sciences and Publication Ethics, Globalization and World Politics, Current Issues in International Security, International Political Economy, Russian Foreign Policy, European Integration, Diplomacy and Lobbying, Human Rights in International Politics, US Foreign Policy, the Middle East in World Politics, Seminar, Current Issues in Turkish Foreign Policy, Religion and Nationalism in World Politics, Political Economy of Energy, Advanced Readings in International Law, Current Issues in Global Politics, Caucasus and Central Asian Politics, International Migration, Transnational Social Movements, Non-State Actors in the Middle East, World Politics European Union, Master Thesis, Specialization Course.
Skills Gained and Academic Accumulation: Our department students will be able to specialize in International Relations Theories, International Law, Diplomatic History, Turkish Foreign Policy, Foreign Policy Analysis and Area Studies, etc. after the education they receive in our program. As Eskişehir Osmangazi University International Relations Department, our primary goal is for our students to graduate with the knowledge and skills to work competently in the international arena. As the world becomes globalized economically, socially and politically, as the circulation of information increases and accelerates, as the circulation of the workforce intensifies, we ensure that our students graduate at a competitive level in this global world where the importance of borders is decreasing.
Graduation Requirements: International Relations Thesis Master's Program can be completed by taking 9 courses and 1 Seminar (Total 27 credits). The thesis phase should be completed with a Master's Thesis Course and a Specialization Course (depending on the thesis advisor). In addition, in order to graduate, the student must have passed all the courses in the program and must not have an FF, DZ, or YZ grade.
Post-Graduation Work Opportunities: With the skills they have acquired in this program, our graduates can work in international organizations, various institutions of the Republic of Turkey -mainly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs-, media organizations, banks, consulting companies, non-governmental organizations, and companies in the private sector.
