Master's Program with Thesis

The Goal of the Program: The program aims to know the ways to reach basic subjects and information in Islamic History and Arts, it also ıt aims to educate students who know the basic sources, literature, and the basic problems of the discipline. In this sense, it aims to provide qualified human resources who are trained in the field of Islamic History and Arts, Who have a holistic perspective on the field, who question knowledge, who understand the country's needs in history, culture, and art, and who adopt scientific ethics as a principle.

The Importance of the Program: History, literature, art, architecture, music, etc. of the Islamic Civilization that Muslims have revealed throughout the history of İslam. It contributes to the correct understanding, development of an academic approach. In addition, more accurate analysis of the current situation of the Muslim world helps to make more accurate predictions about how future periods will be shaped.

Application Conditions: An undergraduate degree can be applied to the program. ALES and YDS minimum score requirements and Graduation GPA requirements specified in the announcement period of the program must be met. Candidates who apply with a bachelor's degree other than Theology / Islamic Sciences are evaluated with a non-field quota. Students who are out of the field must acquire a minimum of Theology background for the Master's program, they are taken to the Scientific Preparation program. Accordingly, the student is required to successfully complete a 15-credit course from the Bachelor of Theology courses. (For score conditions, the Graduate Student Admission Announcements of the Graduate School of Social Sciences should be followed every semester.)

Acquired Skills and Academic Background: The student who graduates from the program will have learned basic resources and problems of the field of Islamic History and Arts and develops a scientific approach to any issue related to the field. In addition, graduates of the program,

1. Comprehend the general methodology and philosophy of history,

2. Specialize in at least one of the subsections of the Islamic History and Arts Department,

3. Will be able to explain various problems encountered or seen in society using historical data and produce solutions,

4. To prepare projects related to the field of specialization, to carry out projects, and to draw conclusions.

5. By following the scientific developments in the field, students constantly improve themselves in using information technologies,

6. Will be aware of our historical and cultural roots, sensitive to social and environmental values, and have a professional and moral responsibility,

7. Will have professional and social communication skills, prone to scientific studies together and alone.

Graduation Requirements: In order to graduate from the program, at least a total of twenty-one credit courses, a seminar course, a specialization course, and thesis study courses must be successfully completed. The maximum duration of the program is six semesters, excluding the Scientific Preparation Period. At the end of the course period, the thesis period starts with the approval of the thesis proposal related to the subject chosen by the student in cooperation with the advisor, by the Department Head. The thesis must be defended at the end of six semesters at the latest, including the course period. The graduation process of the student who has the thesis accepted in the defense exam stars, if he/she receives correction, he/she makes the necessary corrections within three months enters the defense again, in case of rejection, the student is dismissed before graduating from the program.

Post-graduation Work Opportunities: Those who graduate from the program first qualify for the title of science specialist. Especially in the relevant departments of universities, research assistants, lecturers, teachers and can work in various units of the Presidency of Religious Affairs. They also gain the right to apply for doctoral education.
